About us
Attention is the only moat left.
Products get copied and pricing gets matched, so the advantage that lasts is being the company people think of first. MotiveGTM exists to build that for businesses doing real work that too few of the right people know about, with years of experience behind it and a clear view of where AI helps and where it doesn’t.
Why we started
Why MotiveGTM was born
The best company doesn’t always win, and we started MotiveGTM because we think it should at least have a better chance. We kept seeing companies with a genuinely good product or service lose to competitors who were louder, sharper online or better funded, which had far less to do with the quality of the work than with the system for getting that work in front of the right people.
Most of them had already tried the usual fixes, whether that was another agency, another tool or another round of ads, and each one helped a little before it stalled, because nothing was connected: content didn’t feed outreach, outreach didn’t learn from search, and nobody owned the whole picture.
MotiveGTM is our answer to that gap, so we build one connected system for being found, being recognized and building the relationships that turn into business, and we build it around the company you already are rather than the company a template assumes you to be.
What we kept running into, and what we built in response
- Why GTM Engineering existsWe have lost count of the founders who believe that ten thousand emails and two thousand calls a week will produce leads, and the same instinct shows up in the arguments about “which LLM model is better at research, the existential 5.0 or the terminator GPT 4.9”. Both put machinery ahead of the only things that produce conversations, which are a real signal and enough closeness to a few prospects to act on it.See GTM Engineering
- Why Discoverability existsPlenty of marketing teams are quietly excellent and simply too introverted to be heard, publishing nothing and hoping the product will speak for itself. Silence is never neutral though, because it is the quiet price you pay to go unnoticed, which is why being findable and building in public now sit inside the job rather than beside it.See Discoverability
- Why Brand Activation existsMost plans still run on what worked last time, which was reasonable while the ground stayed still, and it leaves companies saying what everyone else in their category says. A value proposition somebody remembers has to be built on what the company is now, rather than on a line that worked before the tools and the buyers changed.See Brand Activation
Our experience
Years of building marketing systems, at every stage
We’ve spent years building marketing and sales systems from the inside, for companies at very different points in their growth. The same playbook doesn’t work at every stage, and we’ve seen enough of each to know the difference.
- Start-upsFinding the first repeatable way to reach buyersWhen the product works but distribution doesn’t yet, and every hour and dollar has to count.See how we help start-ups
- SMBsTurning proof into something that scalesWhen customers already love you and growth is capped by referrals that were never systemized.See how we help SMBs
- IT Services & B2B TechCompeting against bigger and sharper namesWhen the delivery is strong but the positioning and the pipeline haven’t kept up with the category.See how we help IT services
How we think about AI
AI, thoughtfully.
AI has changed what’s possible in marketing, and we use it every day. It researches accounts, spots signals, and drafts first versions faster than any team could.
More AI isn’t the goal, though. A buyer can tell when a message was written by a machine, and the moment they can, trust is gone. So we let AI do the heavy lifting in the background and keep people in charge of judgment, taste, and every relationship.
How the work splits
Where AI works, and where people do
- Researching accountsMostly AI
Reading websites, news, and hiring activity across hundreds of accounts is exactly the kind of volume AI handles well.
- Spotting buying signalsMostly AI
AI watches for the moments that matter, like a job change or a pricing page visit, and flags them for a person to look at.
- Drafting a first versionShared
AI gets a draft on the page quickly. A person rewrites it until it sounds like someone who knows the buyer.
- Deciding what to send, and whenPeople, with AI support
Timing, tone, and whether to reach out at all are judgment calls. People make them.
- The conversation itselfPeople
Once a buyer replies, it’s a person on the other end. Always.

What we believe
A few things we won’t compromise on
- Systems that compoundA campaign ends when the budget does. A system keeps working, and every part makes the next one easier.
- Built around real buyersWe start from who actually buys from you and why, and build everything else around that.
- Honest about what AI can’t doWe’ll tell you where AI helps and where it would cost you trust, even when the second answer is less exciting.
- Start where you areYou don’t need everything at once. We’ll recommend the smallest useful place to begin.
FAQ
Straight answers.
What does "AI, thoughtfully" mean in practice?
We use AI for the work it does well: researching accounts, spotting buying signals, and drafting a first version. People decide what’s worth saying, who it goes to, and when, and they shape every message before it reaches a buyer. AI makes the team faster. It never gets the final say.
What kinds of companies do you work with?
Right now, three kinds: start-ups finding their first repeatable way to reach buyers, SMBs that have proven their model and want to scale it, and IT services and B2B technology companies competing against bigger or sharper-positioned names. If you’re somewhere in between, a discovery call is the quickest way to find out if we’re a fit.
Do we have to work with you on everything?
No. Some clients bring us in for one piece, like positioning or discoverability. Others want the full system. We’ll tell you honestly where we’d start, and it’s often smaller than people expect.
