MotiveGTM is a marketing agency, and this page explains what happens to information when you visit motivegtm.com or get in touch with us. It is written to be read rather than survived, so if anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it properly.
Who is responsible
MotiveGTM operates this site from India, which means India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 governs how we handle personal data. If you are reading this from the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the rights set out below as well, and we honour those rights wherever you happen to be. Questions, requests and complaints all go to the same address: amith@motivegtm.com.
When you fill in one of our forms
The booking and contact forms on our pages ask for your name, your work email and your company website, and some of them also ask what you are interested in, roughly what stage you are at, and optionally a few words about where you are stuck.
When you send a form, what you typed goes to HubSpot, the customer relationship system we use, where it becomes a contact record that we read and reply to. HubSpot stores it on our behalf under its own privacy policy as well as this one. If HubSpot cannot be reached at that moment, the form opens your own email application with the message already written instead, so nothing reaches us until you press send yourself.
When you book a call
Our contact page embeds HubSpot’s meeting scheduler. Booking a time passes the details you enter, at least your name, email address and chosen slot, to HubSpot, which adds them to the same contact record as a form would and places the meeting in our Google Calendar with a Google Meet link. That makes both HubSpot’s and Google’s privacy policies relevant alongside this one. The scheduler offers a separate box for agreeing to other communications from us, which starts unticked, and we only send you anything beyond the meeting itself if you tick it. Loading the scheduler also allows HubSpot to set cookies, which are described below.
When you are just reading
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people actually read, which records things like the pages you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you used and how you arrived. We read it in aggregate to decide what to write next, we do not use it to identify individuals, and we neither sell it nor share it with advertisers.
We also load Google Tag Manager, which is a container for measurement tools rather than a tool itself. It currently holds nothing beyond what this page already describes, and we will update this page before that changes.
Cookies and similar storage
- _ga and _ga_P6S2SYQM9E are set by Google Analytics to tell one visit apart from another, and they last up to two years.
- __hstc, hubspotutk, __hssc and __hssrc are set by HubSpot inside the booking scheduler on our contact page, to recognise a returning visitor and connect a booking to earlier visits. The first two last around thirteen months, __hssc lasts thirty minutes and __hssrc ends when you close your browser. Many browsers block them because the scheduler is embedded from HubSpot’s own domain.
- __cf_bm is set by Cloudflare on HubSpot’s scheduler to tell people from automated bots, and it lasts thirty minutes.
- mgtm-arcade is stored by your own browser on our 404 page to remember a game score. It never leaves your device and it is not personal data.
You can clear or block all of these in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics everywhere using Google’s own browser add-on. The site works perfectly well without any of them.
Things we load from other companies
Our typefaces come from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google and Google sees your IP address in the process. The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs for security and reliability, and the booking scheduler on our contact page is loaded from HubSpot’s servers. None of these is something we control beyond having chosen to use them.
How long we keep things
Contact records and emails stay while a conversation is live and for as long afterwards as we might reasonably need them. Analytics data expires on Google’s schedule, currently set to fourteen months. Nothing here is kept indefinitely for its own sake.
What you can ask us for
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop using it altogether. The DPDP Act also lets you nominate someone to exercise those rights on your behalf, and the GDPR additionally lets you request a copy in a portable form or complain to your local supervisory authority. Write to amith@motivegtm.com and we will answer within thirty days, usually a good deal sooner.
Changes to this page
If this page changes in a way that matters we will update the date at the top, and where the change is significant we will say so on the site rather than hoping you notice.
